ABOUT REBECCA TOMANELLI
Hi, I'm Rebecca Tomanelli. I am a Junior at Clarkstown High School North in Rockland County, NY. I have always been interested in art which surprised my parents considering neither of them are artistically inclined. From a young age I was doodling and sketching and finger painting. I always kept an eye out for inspiration and good art. When we would go to the city when I was a child, I would have my parents stop for a few minutes so I could look at the intricate architecture.
Photography has always been interesting to me- along with watercolors and acrylics. In Photography at school I was able to learn how to capture the art I saw in everyday life. I am now able to fully remember the art that the Earth brings us naturally and even the man made structures I find so entrancing.
This year I pulled a lot of inspiration from music. I took concepts and the feelings I get from listening to artists like AURORA, Nat King Cole, Keaton Henson, Vera Blue, and Josef Salvat.
My Studio Shoot is entirely based upon Nat King Cole's song "Nature Boy". I took the title to create this concept of a down to earth environment and a king in the wild. My concepts spiraled and some of the images I took depicted a King holding his crown instead of wearing it. His crown is made of flowers but the world has become industrialized and he has less land to rule because of it.
